Transfer students

Most undergraduate programs accept up to 64 transfer credits, while graduate programs can accept a maximum of 12 graduate-level credits. However, this is subject to the discretion of your intended program, college or school, and there may be some exceptions. 

If you’re looking to transfer a higher number of credits, explore one of our transfer-friendly bachelor’s degrees. These programs accept more transfer credits than our standard undergraduate degrees. Some options include: 

• Health entrepreneurship and innovation, BS
• Liberal studies, BA
• Mass communication and media studies, BA

Transferring credits will help you earn your degree faster, as you won’t have to retake classes you’ve already completed. 

Typically, a bachelor’s degree takes about four years to complete and a master’s degree takes about two years. This reflects a full-time course load of 12-15 credit hours per semester. If you take a heavier course load or transfer credits, you may be able to earn your degree sooner.

Yes, any college-level credits you’ve previously earned will transfer to ASU, as long as they meet the following criteria: 

• You completed the course at a regionally accredited institution.
• You earned a grade of “C” or higher.
• ASU offers an equivalent course.

That will depend on your specific situation. If you have fewer than 24 transferable credits, you must also meet the first-year student admission requirements. Those may require ACT and SAT scores.
