Transfer application requirements
Transfer your credits to complete your degree
You’re considered a transfer student at Arizona State University if you've attended at least one college or university and have 12 or more transferable credits post-high school. You’re also a transfer student if you’re seeking a second bachelor’s degree.
ASU only considers undergraduate applicants as transfer students. If you want to pursue a graduate degree, you might be able to transfer up to 12 credit hours depending on your program of interest. Learn more about graduate admission.
Speak to an enrollment coach
ASU enrollment coaches are a great resource for discussing degree programs of interest, how your credits may transfer and when you would like to begin classes. Select “Request info” or “Contact” to get started.
Review admission requirements
Transfer students must have graduated high school or earned a GED.
Additionally, transfer students must meet one of the following requirements:
- 12–23 transferable credit hours post-high school with a minimum 2.50 cumulative transfer GPA and meet first-year student admission requirements.
- 24 or more transferable credit hours post-high school with a minimum 2.50 cumulative transfer GPA.
- Associate degree from a regionally accredited higher education institution post-high school with:
- 2.00 or higher cumulative GPA (residents).
- 2.50 or higher cumulative GPA (nonresidents).
Some programs have higher admission requirements. Talk to an enrollment coach if you have any questions.

Send in your transcripts
ASU requires you to send official transcripts from each college, university or technical school you previously attended. Depending on factors like your age, number of transferable credits and program requirements, you may also need to send your high school transcripts. Learn about requesting official transcripts.
If sending electronically:
Transcripts sent via email may be accepted if sent directly from an authorized school official at the issuing institution, or from a third-party verified source, to ASU at transcripts@asu.edu.
You may also use services such as Parchment, eSCRIP or National Clearinghouse to send electronic transcripts. Choose Arizona State University on the request form to make a request for your institution to send us your official transcripts.
