Earning a degree online has a lot of benefits even for the busiest schedules and diverse lifestyles. It provides students with the ability to fit in a class lecture on their lunch break and study for midterms after preparing family dinner. Utilizing the nooks and crannies of everyday life for achieving a degree is one of the reasons our newest team of ASU Online Brand Ambassadors made ASU their university of choice.

Cicily Boone

Degree: Bachelor of Arts in business communication
Hometown: Austin, Texas

An entrepreneur at heart, Cicily created a YouTube channel at the age of 14 and has continued to grow her platform over the years to include wellness, lifestyle and college-related content to share her experiences with others, including what it's like to be an online student.

As a business communication student, Cicily has been learning about SEO, digital influencer interactions, communication strategies and Google Trends, which are helping to further her knowledge of the digital space and make her aspirations of owning her own social media marketing firm a reality.

When it comes to fitting her online education into her day-to-day, Cicily shares that “the biggest perk is being able to do all my classes and work whenever I can because I do a lot of work for my styling job and YouTube channel, so it’s great not to have to be in a specific class at a certain time each day.”

Check out Cicily’s YouTube channel and Instagram for her take on beauty, fashion, lifestyle and of course her experience being an ASU Online student.

Miranda Gaona

Degree: Master of Science in digital audience strategy
Hometown: Buckeye, Arizona

After years of traveling as a flight attendant, Miranda decided her next big adventure was earning her degree. Drawn to the digital audience strategy degree program, Miranda knew ASU Online was the perfect fit for her nomadic lifestyle and that it would provide her with the knowledge she needs to pursue the goal of working in the social media and branding industry.

As a new brand ambassador, Miranda is looking forward to connecting with those who are on the fence about pursuing their degrees or unable to attend on-ground classes, to share her personal experiences as an online student.

Miranda’s best advice on how to balance everyday life while prioritizing your studies is to “stay as organized as possible, don’t let deadlines sneak up on you and schedule time for yourself.”

Drew McDowell

Degree: Master of Arts in sociology
Hometown: Phoenix, Arizona

Born and raised in Phoenix, Drew McDowell’s hometown pride led him to Arizona State University where he enrolled to complete his undergraduate degree. Fast forward to today and not only did Drew earn a bachelor’s degree in sociology through ASU Online, but he is now enrolled in the Master’s degree program online as well, with plans to use his knowledge to positively impact legislation around childhood poverty.

With his wealth of knowledge about what it takes to succeed as an online student, Drew suggests connecting with others both in and outside of the virtual classroom for support. Whether it’s using the class discussion board to network with peers or leaning on your family for time management support - Drew knows first-hand that leveraging relationships will lead to success.

When he’s not on the job or tackling the latest sociology lecture, Drew likes to spend his free time with his wife and two children on family hikes.

Follow Drew to see his updates on life as a college student taking online classes and tips for those pursuing their own degree.
