How to take on the new year with new goals
January 2019 marks the final semester of my college career. My daughter is trying to convince me to apply to an ASU Online master’s program, but I am not ready to make that commitment at this time.
My academic goal for 2019 is to pass MAT 142, a course I’m currently taking for my bachelor’s. I know you might be thinking, “All you want to do is pass MAT 142?” I am not a numbers person. I like to analyze words. I freak out when I hear MAT 142, and the thought of numbers makes my skin crawl and my blood sugar go up.
I know that once I finish, I am one class closer to graduation. Whatever I need to do to succeed, I’m going to do it, even if it means getting a tutor or staying up until 2:30 AM trying to figure it out.
My second goal for 2019 is health-focused. Being an online college student, I do not sleep as much as I’d like to sleep (depending on the class), and I snack on chips more than I should. I have made a commitment to stay out of the pantry when I’m stressed and to find time to exercise 2-3 times a week. I do not have time to go to the gym every time, as I have a treadmill at home, and I walk 20-40 minutes a few days a week at work. What are your goals for 2019? Whatever they are, I know you will accomplish them. Happy New Year!
