Arizona State University’s already groundbreaking public-private partnership with Starbucks is getting an upgrade: all benefits eligible partners (employees) can apply to have all four years of their tuition for ASU’s online programs covered 100 percent by Starbucks. When the Starbucks College Achievement Plan debuted in June of 2014, full tuition reimbursement was aimed only at juniors and seniors as a way to help them complete their undergraduate degrees.

Starbucks estimates that more than 70 percent of its workforce are either current or aspiring students. This new pathway to success has already been taken by nearly 2,000 students as of April 2015. But the long-term plan is even more ambitious: Starbucks is committing more than $250 million to the partnership in order to graduate at least 25,000 students by 2025.

By making its top-ranked online degree programs available to Starbucks partners, ASU is providing a pathway to higher education that might not otherwise exist for many students. The partnership demonstrates ASU’s devotion to seeing all students succeed, and to setting a precedent for other schools to follow.
