ASU's key transfer programs

According to the latest numbers, ASU’s transfer student population has increased 1.5 percent this fall compared to last year, and ASU Online’s transfer student population has increased more than 5% this fall over last.

Global Freshman Academy, a first-of-its-kind enterprise, offers freshman-level courses for free online. Students can choose to purchase their classes for academic credit after they pass, providing an alternative entry into the first year of higher education for all qualified students at their pace and price. These credits can then be transferred to ASU. (Update: Global Freshman Academy is now known as Universal Learner Courses.)

This was the route taken by Morgan Richards, a north Phoenix-area mother of three who is pursuing an anthropology online degree with ASU after taking classes through Global Freshman Academy. The experience helped Richards start college a step ahead, with college experience and credits from the Academy.

Transfer Connections is an orientation program held on ASU’s Tempe and Polytechnic campuses that includes a series of workshops and allows transfer students to ask questions and engage with one another.

ASU also has an interactive online orientation offered through My ASU, the university’s primary point of contact with its students and applicants.

ASU transfer pathways

The Transfer Ambassador Program sends ASU students to local community colleges to inspire others to consider pursuing an undergraduate degree. The Maricopa to ASU Pathways Program encourages students attending classes within the Maricopa Community College District to map out their courses toward a degree program to ensure the classes they take at their community college will later transfer to ASU.
