Both Starbucks and ASU believe that everyone deserves the chance to get a great education, because a college degree is a path to lifelong opportunity. And that high-quality online education, combining flexibility and rigor, is the key to making universities accessible to working adults.
The Starbucks College Achievement Plan translates this vision into action. Through the plan, Starbucks will provide its eligible full and part time employees a steady track to achieve a bachelor’s degree through Arizona State University’s online programs while they are working at Starbucks - with no strings or commitments once they graduate.
According to the U.S. Department of Education, 50% of college students fail to complete their degree. ASU has been working to change that statistic by providing access to quality online education that includes world-class faculty and personalized instruction. Starbucks is doing their part to close the gap by investing in the future of their workforce. The Starbucks College Achievement Plan will provide lifelong opportunity for eligible part-time and full-time partners in the United States by helping them complete their bachelor’s degree with full tuition reimbursement for over 40 undergraduate programs offered online.
According to ASU President Michael Crow, “ASU is pioneering a new university model focused on inclusivity and degree completion, and Starbucks is establishing a new precedent for the responsibility and role of a public company that leads through the lens of humanity and supports its partners’ life goals with access to education.”
