Arizona State University continues to push the boundaries of higher education. The outcome? More freshman enrolled than ever before.

On Thursday Aug. 17, 2017, approximately 11,500 freshmen settled in for their first day at one of the university’s five thriving campuses. Each campus gives freshman students a different experience.

Also settling in are Arizona State University’s digital immersion students. ASU Online has had nearly a 60 percent enrollment increase over fall 2016, which makes the incoming freshman class the largest ASU has led.

ASU continually aims to provide different options for students through their network of learning environments, which makes every campus unique. The West campus, Polytechnic campus and Downtown Phoenix campus all saw increases in enrollment.

This will also be the most diverse class ASU has ever seen. Attending Arizona-based freshman will make up 53 percent of underrepresented populations this fall.

Another strong example of the university’s commitment to inclusion are its international students. Arizona State University has more international students than any other public university in the country. The enrollment rates are compelling and they support ASU’s expansion of global partnerships.

ASU’s dedication to affordable access and research excellence has made ASU a choice of many freshman students. As it stands now, the freshman enrollment numbers project that a record of nearly 10,000 undergraduates will receive diplomas in May 2017.

A commitment to education is portrayed in every aspect of the freshman experience. ASU’s pledge is to serve the Arizona community, and provide all students who meet academic requirements with accessible higher education.
