What concepts does the ASU EdD program emphasize?

As a student in the online doctorate in education leadership, you’ll learn how to implement positive and lasting change in the classroom and across whole institutions. With an emphasis on evaluating your own work as an educator, ASU’s goal is to create scholarly and influential practitioners. Overall, this program gives you the tools to identify areas in need of change to support student success.

This program offers three distinct educational pathways, allowing you to tailor your learning experience to your career goals:

  • Pre-K-grade 12 change leadership.
  • Higher education change leadership.
  • Systems, professional and reimagined change leadership.

How will I collaborate with fellow students and faculty in this ASU EdD program?

In the second and third years of this program, you’ll primarily work in leader-scholar community groups. In these collaborative groups, you’ll study, conceptualize and implement change initiatives into your local educational setting, while receiving guidance from your designated faculty member. Leader-scholar community groups also provide support when conducting your dissertation research.

Applicants entering the program must hold an active position in education that allows for the implementation of small-scale change, another aspect of the program that allows you to collaborate with not only students and faculty but also those currently working in education.

The research in action concept encourages learners to conduct several cycles of inquiry throughout the online doctorate in education leadership program. The goal is to enable more thoughtful, intentional and informed educational practices and to encourage a mindset of continuous improvement in educational settings.

How long is an EdD program?

The online doctorate in education leadership typically takes three years to complete. Students generally earn their EdD in leadership and innovation after 9–10 semesters.

Does my ASU EdD in leadership and innovation say 'online'?
