ASU recognizes the unique nature of the military lifestyle and is committed to easing the transfer of relevant course credits earned from regionally accredited schools. College credit may be granted for successful completion of CLEP, DANTES and advanced placement examinations.

EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS


Tuition Assistance

Tuition Assistance is a Department of Defense program. The program is not administered or monitored by the VA. Questions regarding Tuition Assistance, and information on obtaining application forms, should be directed to the military student's unit Education Service Officer.

Once the appropriate forms are filled out, you will receive a contract for the semester’s Tuition Assistance. Fax the contract to ASU’s Student Business Office: 480-965-9242.


GI Bill Benefits

New students who have not used VA GI Bill benefits at any institution of higher education in the past may apply for benefits. Please complete the appropriate VA application and submit along with the required supporting documentation directly to VA using VONAPP at http://benefits.va.gov/gibill/.

You may also complete and submit the appropriate VA application and supporting documents by mail to:

Chapter 30, 33, 1606 & 1607: Form 22-1990
Chapter 35: Form 22-5490
Chapter 31: The Department of Veteran Affairs, Vocational Rehabilitation Office, determines eligibility. Apply for evaluation using form 22-1990.

Once the VA processes the forms, you will receive a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from the VA office. Submit the Certificate of Eligibility via email using VeteransForms@asu.edu. In addition to this, the following forms need to be submitted:

VA Benefits Responsibility Form - Online Form
VA Enrollment Activity Form (Complete and send every semester you are enrolled) - Online Form


Transfer Students

For students who are transferring to ASU from another college or university where they have already used VA educational benefits, please fax your Certificate of Eligibility with the following forms to the Certifying office: 480-965-8198.

(If you do not have your COE on hand, please call the VA regional office and request a new one: 1-800-827-1000.)

Spouse/Dependent

GI Bill Transferability: Information about transferring your Post-9/11 GI Bill education benefits to your spouse or children can be found here:

Transferring benefits is a two-step process. The transferer applies with Department of Defense to transfer the benefits; when that is approved, the transferee applies with VA for his/her transferred benefits using the VONAPP process. Once the VA processes the forms, you will receive a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from the VA office.
