Frequently Asked Questions

I enrolled in an online course, but I don't see it in my courses list when I log into myASU?

Courses that are not online (internet) courses being taught within the myASU environment will not appear on your Course page.

How do I un-enroll in a MyASU course (class site)?

Because class data (such as assessment results and discussion board postings) is associated with your enrollment, you can not un-enroll yourself from a class. Contact your instructor and ask him or her if they will remove you from the class site roster. You can also send an email message to myasu-q@asu.edu with the request, but be sure to include: your full name, your asurite userid, the course you are showing as enrolled in including the prefix and schedule line number, and the name of the instructor.

I'm enrolled in a myASU course but my Instructor says I'm not registered for the course.

Signing up for, or removing oneself from, a course in myASU does not change your status in the official University records. Check your official University schedule by using ASU Interactive Services. If the course does not appear on your schedule you will need to register and pay fees for the class. If the course does appear, verify the Schedule Line Number (SLN) to make sure you are registered in the section that corresponds to the myASU course.

I use Hotmail and my email is not getting sent through myASU (Blackboard). What's wrong?

Hotmail assumes that e-mail without anything in the "To:" field is junk mail. myASU/Blackboard puts e-mail addresses in the "BCC:" (blind carbon copy) field, not the "To:" field, in order to protect the privacy of e-mail addresses. So Hotmail thinks that all e-mail sent from the Blackboard system is junk mail.

Hotmail filters junk mail and either places it into a folder called "Junk Mail" or deletes it immediately. The safest way to reconfigure Hotmail is to turn off junk mail filtering and delay the deletion of junk mail.

Turning off junk mail filtering means that all mail will be delivered to your Inbox. You will get e-mail from the myASU system and be able to manually delete the real junk mail that appears.

Delaying the deletion of junk mail means that anything placed in the "Junk Mail" folder will remain there for 14 days before being automatically deleted. Setting this to "Delayed" if filtering is turned off is actually superfluous. If filtering is turned off, nothing will be going into the "Junk Mail" folder so it doesn't matter whether junk mail is saved or deleted. This setting comes into effect when/if you turn on junk mail filtering in the future. Rather than deleting the e-mail when it is received, it will be saved in the "Junk Mail" folder.

An ASURITE UserId and ACTIVATION code were included in my recently received ASU admission letter, but this information does not allow me to login to myASU. What am I doing wrong?

The ASURITE id and activation code you received in your admissions letter should have pointed you to http://www.asu.edu/asurite in order for you to activate the ASURITE id using the activation code. Your ASURITE id is not active until you follow that step.

You will be able to log into myASU after you have activated your ASURITE id and chosen a password for it, but you will not be able to subscribe to some services, such as email until you have registered and paid for classes.
