  • Students needing to withdraw from one or more classes for medical reasons, must request a medical withdrawal. This policy covers both physical health and mental health difficulties. According to the policies of the Tuition Payment Office, students may be refunded a greater portion of tuition and/or fees paid for the semester than the published university refund schedule would normally allow. Each college has a dean's representative (medical/compassionate designee) to review medical/compassionate withdrawal requests.
  • Students seeking a medical withdrawal need to:
    1. Complete the Request for Documented Medical/Compassionate Withdrawal Form at http://www.asu.edu/registrar/forms/regforms.html
    2. Submit form and all requested documentation to the medical/compassionate withdrawal designee of the college of the student's major.
Compassionate Withdrawal
  • Students withdrawing from one or more classes for significant personal reasons, not related to the student's physical or mental health (for example, care of a seriously ill child or spouse, or a death in the student's immediate family), may request a compassionate withdrawal. A compassionate withdrawal aids the student as listed above under "Medical Withdrawal." Each college has a dean's representative (medical/compassionate designee) to review medical/compassionate withdrawal requests.
